Why Do I Love the Olympics?

I always get so annoyed during an Olympic year because for 16 days, all of my favorite TV shows are on a break and generally speaking, programming all around is horrible. However, from the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony I have Olympic fever.  I watch competitions for sports that I NEVER think about or have heard of,  I'm constantly checking the medal count (as of this writing, Norway is in 1st place with 4 medals, the U.S. is in 4th), and I stay up late to watch some competitions live (we are nine hours behind Sochi).

Why do I love the Olympics?  I love what the athletes represent-focus, determination, sacrifice, discipline, and the pursuit of greatness.  The drive and desire to be the best and the willingness to put in the time, energy, and work it takes to be the best.  During the Olympics, I get fired up about my own goals but that fire tends to go out a few weeks after the Olympics.  This year my mindset is a little different.  I'm going to commit to taking the Olympic approach to life.  I don't quite know what that means yet but I'll figure it out before Sochi closes.

In line dancing news, I'm working on "5 in 1".  I already know and have taught it before but I'm bringing it back and I need to break it down so it's easy to teach.  Enjoy!
