Why Do I Love the Olympics?

I always get so annoyed during an Olympic year because for 16 days, all of my favorite TV shows are on a break and generally speaking, programming all around is horrible. However, from the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony I have Olympic fever.  I watch competitions for sports that I NEVER think about or have heard of,  I'm constantly checking the medal count (as of this writing, Norway is in 1st place with 4 medals, the U.S. is in 4th), and I stay up late to watch some competitions live (we are nine hours behind Sochi).

Why do I love the Olympics?  I love what the athletes represent-focus, determination, sacrifice, discipline, and the pursuit of greatness.  The drive and desire to be the best and the willingness to put in the time, energy, and work it takes to be the best.  During the Olympics, I get fired up about my own goals but that fire tends to go out a few weeks after the Olympics.  This year my mindset is a little different.  I'm going to commit to taking the Olympic approach to life.  I don't quite know what that means yet but I'll figure it out before Sochi closes.

In line dancing news, I'm working on "5 in 1".  I already know and have taught it before but I'm bringing it back and I need to break it down so it's easy to teach.  Enjoy!

Take Some Time for Yourself This Weekend

It's Friday, yay!

These days it seems like people are just as busy on the weekends as they are during the week.  I say, make sure you take some time for yourself, even it it is just an hour.  Watch a movie; curl up with a good book;  or get a spa pedicure.  Go it alone or with friends, just do something fun and relaxing.

Speaking of fun and relaxing, that's one of the reasons why I love line dancing.  It's fun, relaxing, and it's something I can do alone or with friends.

Anywhoo--if you want to get a workout in this weekend and you're short on time, try these---

Have a great weekend!

Lots of Snow Today....

There was so much snow today!  It was a perfect for doing admin type work--with the occasional dance break, ha!  That's the cool thing about line dancing.  On a day like today when  heading to the gym, just pop in a CD and dance.  And with line dancing,  if you have a full house you can turn your "workout" into a party.

Last night's class was  awesome!  Lots of laughs and lots of dancing.  You know when people are having a good time when they linger instead of rushing out the door.

My sister asked me about a dance called "Latest and Greatest"(or is it "Greatest Inspiration", I'll have to look it up)--we were in my car and the song was playing for the dance was playing on my iPod.  She said, "how come we don't do this?"  I didn't really have an answer.  Truth is, I have so many songs and videos in my library that I forget about a lot of dances-especially if I haven't heard the song in while (which was the case with "Latest and Greatest").  Anywhoo, now that a request has been made, it's on my radar.  Check it out, what do you think of it?

Whoo-hoo! It's Going to Snow Tomorrow!!

I'm not so much excited that it's going to snow, I'm just really excited that it's going to snow tomorrow.  Because that means it's not going to snow today. What's so special about today?  Today is Tuesday.  Haha!  Seriously, tonight is Hustle Fit: The Line Dance Party Workout night!!!  Every Tuesday night, at La Quinta Inn & Suites (in downtown Springfield, MA) from 6:45 pm to 8:00 pm, I lead a group fitness class I like to call, Hustle Fit: The Line Dance Party Workout.  It is exactly what is sounds like--a cardio workout based on line dancing. It's a lot of fun because it's just dancing and who doesn't like to dance:)  You also learn popular line dances that you can do at real parties.  I absolutely love it and I love teaching other people.

Back to the snow, I've had to cancel class twice this winter due to the weather:(

So, if you're in the area, class is only $8.  If you live elsewhere or Tuesday nights don't work for you, check out www.hustlefitonline.com to get a sample.

I'm excited for tonight's class, I think I'm going to keep it smoothed out on the R & B tip :).  Here is today's warm-up dance---

Talk to you later!

Pushing Through the Funk

Today is going to be a day for putting the Dance.Party.Thrive. philosophy to the test!  Part of that philosophy, in terms of "Thrive", means that we "acknowledge our physical, mental, and spiritual needs and we meet them."  So today, we're meeting our mental needs!  We'll do a little EFT (or tapping), meditation, and of course, dancing.  And that should clear the way for us to get some business done.

Speaking of "dancing", there might be a new dance added to tomorrow's workout:)

A Day of Thanks, Hustle, and Praise

Sure--there's always work to be done but today, we're taking time to be thankful.  We'll also take some time to do what we call, Hustle and Praise™:)

Have an awesome day!!

Not Much Going on Today....

Not a whole lot on today's Hustle Fit calendar so I'm going to use the down time to catch up on email, plan for tomorrow's partnership meeting, and dance (of course:).  Today was day 2 of my 21 days of vocal exercises, yeah!  To some that might not be much but I'm learning to celebrate even the smallest of successes.

I'm all set with "Go Hard or Go Home" so today I'm going to spend time breaking it down section-by-section and then step-by-step so that I can teach it.  My goal is to make it as easy to follow as possible.  I also need to over a dance I taught in class last Tuesday, "BreakWater".
There was a section that most people had trouble with and I need to find a way to make it easier for everyone.  That doesn't mean changing the steps--I never do that, it just means coming up with a better way to teach it.

And finally, I'm just going to enjoy the day---which most likely means alternating between watching movies and line dancing around the living room, lol.   Does anyone have any big plans for the day or even the weekend?
